A school building,constructed under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) of Ambuja Cements Limited,was formally handed over to Solan Deputy Commissioner Meera Mohanti at a function on Thursday.
The three-storey building,consisting of classrooms,labs and offices has been constructed at a cost of about Rs 3 crore.
The function was attended by the CEO,Baddi Barotiwala Nalagarh Development Authority,Solan ADM,Nalagarh SDM and Gurnam Kaur,wife of former Nalagarh MLA the late Hari Narain Saini.
Ambuja Cement Foundation (ACF),the CSR arm of Ambuja Cements Limited,had taken up the project following a decision by chairman emeritus Suresh Neotia . The foundation stone of the school building was laid by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on December 10,2009.
ACF has contributed towards the development of rural infrastructure for local communities by constructing concrete pathways and village roads,developing playgrounds and constructing community utilities such as rain sheds.
