A month on,Mohali police cracks murder case of Solan businessman,arrests two

The Mohali Police on Thursday claimed to have solved the murder of Vikrant Verma,a resident of Solan.

The Mohali Police on Thursday claimed to have solved the murder of Vikrant Verma,a resident of Solan.

The police have arrested two persons – Himachal Pradesh-resident Vikram alias John and Naya Goan-resident Raj Rani. Addresing the media,Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Verma,who had come to Chandigarh from Solan to expand his business,was murdered at Naya Goan on June 14 at his rented accommodation.

According to the police,the accused used to keep a watch on people who were financially well off. Another accused,Raj Rani,came in contact with Verma and became friends with him. Later,she introduced Vikram to Verma as her friend. Bhullar said,“On the day of the murder,the three accused went to Verma’s place and started taking things forcibly from his possession. When the victim protested,they attacked him with sharp-edged weapons.”

Bhullar added that Vikram was wanted in a case registered in Chandigarh and in some cases in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Raj Rani was residing with her parents at Naya Goan.
