Medhansh
A 5-YEAR-OLD child was killed in a hit-and-run accident on the road dividing sectors 32-B and 32-C when a rashly driven bike hit him on Monday afternoon.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Medhansh, a resident of Sector 32. He was going to play on a nearby ground when he was hit by a rashly driven bike. An eyewitness account said that the bike driver stopped but when he saw that the child fell unconscious, he sped off.
Medhansh was taken to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, where he was declared dead on arrival. He suffered head injuries which resulted in his death.
Suryakant, a passerby, said that the bike was being driven at a high speed and when it hit Medhansh, he fell around 20 metres away from the spot. Suryakant added that the biker was trying to overtake another vehicle. He lost control of the bike and hit the victim.
A case was registered at the Sector 32 police station under sections 304-A (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving) and 337 of the Indian Penal Code. The police said that they were yet to identify the vehicle.
The locals protested against the police for not arresting the accused.
