25 auto-rickshaws challaned for overloading

In a special checking drive conducted by the State Transport Authority,UT,Chandigarh,an auto rickshaw outside KB DAV Senior Secondary School in Sector 7 was challaned for carrying 17 school kids.

“We request parents not to make their kids travel in overloaded autos. Also,authorities of all schools must check how their students commute,as overloading of auto can endanger their lives,” said Mahabir Kaushik,Sub Divisional Magistrate,UT.

While the prescribed capacity allows five kids in one auto,many times children are found stuffed into autos like luggage.
