2 students held for harassment

Two class IX students allegedly under the influence of alcohol passed vulgar comments to the gir.

The Chandigarh Police have arrested two students for allegedly sexually harassing a girl and passing lewd remarks towards her near Sector 34. The accused — Rahul and Raman — both 19 years old,were bailed out Sunday after being booked for obscenity under Section 294 of the IPC.

According to the police,Rahul and Raman,who are students of Class IX,allegedly passed vulgar comments to a girl near the Sector 33-45 roundabout Saturday afternoon. Both were allegedly under the influence of alcohol,they added. A crowd soon gathered and beat them up,before handing them over to the police.

“The public beat them up before somebody called us. We arrested them on reaching the spot,but the girl had left by then. Further investigations are on,” said Inspector Rajesh Shukla,Station House Officer of Sector 34 police station.
