Two married women committed suicide in two separate cases reported from different areas of the city on Friday. In the first case,25-year-old Mamta,a resident of Burail,committed suicide by hanging herself in the bedroom of her house. The victims body was seen hanging in her bedroom by someone from the neighbourhood. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. Mamta had got married to Pankaj around five years ago,and the couple have a four-year-old daughter. The victim had reportedly quarreled with her husband. Pankaj has been booked by the police for abetment to suicide on the complaint of Mamtas family. Mamta worked as a sales executive. They had shifted to their Sector 45 rented accommodation a few months ago. In a separate case,a 27-year-old married woman committed suicide by setting herself on fire. She has been identified as Neetu,a resident of Mauli complex. She had been married to Sanjeev for the past eight years. Sanjeev makes glow signboards for a living. According to police,the incident happened on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Neetu was sleeping on the ground floor of her house while her husband Sanjeev and Neetus brother were resting on the first floor. She reportedly poured kerosene on her and set herself ablaze. Her husband and other family members came to know about the incident when they saw smoke emanating out of the house. They rushed to the ground floor and saw that Neetu had set herself on fire. The victim was rushed to GMSH-16,where the doctors declared her dead on arrival. No suicide note was recovered from the spot,but Neetu is reported to be under depression.
