A 19 year-old woman,Maya working at the Sector-24 church allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in the church today. The father of the church spotted her body when he went to her room,located on the first floor of the church as she had not turned up for her morning chores. The victim,who stayed with her sister Monika is said to have committed the suicide in the wee hours. Her sister was sleeping outside the room. Relatives of the deceased alleged that the girl was romantically involved with a boy residing in the church. The mother of the boy had threatened the girl yesterday of staying away from her son following which she took the extreme step,they said. Manju,girls aunt,claimed that they have been making rounds of the police against the boys family but to no avail. The boys mother had reprimanded her last night that is why she was tense and thus committed suicide,the police are not listening to us, said Manju. The police,however,said no written complaint had been received and no suicide note was found from the spot. We are investigating into the allegations made by the deceaseds family,nothing has come out so far, said DSP Jagbir Singh. Maya hailed from Tamil Nadu and was an orphan. The postmortem will be conducted tomorrow.
