A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by two persons at Chando Gobindgarh village in Mohali on Friday afternoon. The incident came to light on Saturday when the Class VII student reported the matter to the police,said Investigating Officer Sub-Inspector Dalbeer Singh. The girl was kept hostage for several hours at a secluded house in the village,the IO said.
The accused have been identified as 21-year-old Manjeet Singh,a distant relative of the victim,and 23-year-old Deep Singh,residents of the same village. Both the accused are absconding.
The victim told the police that around noon on Friday,she had gone to a grocery shop in the village where Manjeet Singh met her. He told the girl that two of her friends were waiting for her near a tubewell on the outskirts of the village. Believing the youth,the teenager went to the said place,where Deep Singh was already present and Manjeet arrived later.
Manjeet pulled me inside a tubewell room where both raped me repeatedly, the teenager told the police. She added that she was gagged and raped for several hours after which she fell unconscious.
Taking cognizance of the complaint,the police have registered a case of rape with common intention under Sections 376 and 34 of the IPC against both the accused.
The victim was sent for a medical examination at the Civil Hospital. The reports are still awaited. We have initiated investigations and are conducting raids on the suspected hideouts of the accused, said the IO.
Deep,who hails from a Jat Sikh family,is married while Manjeet is a bachelor,said the police officer. Both the accused are daily wagers.
