(Express Photo) The manner in which the world viewed India has changed in terms of respect, sense of partnership and desire for closer engagement since 2014, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said during a talk on ‘India’s image after 2014’ at a Yuva Samvada event in Bengaluru.
“India is no longer today the receiver of ideas, the receiver of assistance or receiver of what other people give to the rest of the world. We are today a contributor, giver, and a responder and that is the changing image of India,” said Jaishankar.
Jaishankar touched upon various schemes and strategic initiatives taken up under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including the handling of the pandemic, exporting India’s vaccine through ‘Vaccine Maitri’ and Operation Ganga to show why the world views India differently since 2014.
Speaking at the event organised by Bengaluru South MP and BJYM president Tejasvi Surya on March 24, Jaishankar said QUAD, the strategic security group consisting of India, USA, Japan, and Australia, “was given up 10 years ago” and revived under Modi’s administration.

The ‘samvad’ also included an exchange between students and Jaishankar which touched upon India’s foreign policy against China, space diplomacy, attack on Indian Embassy in the UK by pro-Khalistani groups, among other issues.
