The Bangalore police have arrested three youths for attacking a student of Manipuri origin in East Bangalore on Wednesday night. The 22-year-old Samuel Haokim was attacked while he was returning home from work by three local youths identified as Joy Sachin (23), Jagadish (20), and Vijay (19). The trio were in an inebriated state and attacked Haokim without any provocation and injured him on his head with a stone before fleeing the spot, police said. Passers-by who saw the injured youth rushed him for treatment to a local hospital. Police used mobile phone recordings of a few witnesses to the incident to identify and zero in on the attackers at their homes at Lingrajapura. Police said the suspects confessed that they had attacked Haokim in an inebriated state. They have claimed that the attack was intended to harass the Manipuri youth. Haokim who is recovering fast at a local hospital has stated that the youths pounced on him without provocation.
