(File Photo)A Karnataka police inspector was arrested on Thursday in connection with a case where BJP MLA Munirathna Naidu has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman and using her to honeytrap his rivals.
A Special Investigation Team investigating this and two other cases against Naidu alleges that Inspector Ayyanna Reddy of the Hebbagodi police station helped the Rajarajeshwari Nagar MLA and his associates orchestrate honeytraps.
Reddy, known to be close to Naidu, was taken into custody from the police station and brought to Bowring Hospital for a medical check-up. “We plan to present Reddy before the court by Friday to seek his custody,” an SIT officer said.

Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka, also from the BJP, was summoned by the SIT as it alleges Naidu had tried to honeytrap him or to infect him with HIV.
In a recent viral video, Ashoka was seen talking to BJP leader and Union minister V Somanna. Expressing shock that the accused in the case had given a statement that there were plans to infect him with HIV, the leader of the Opposition said, “My family members suggested that I leave the country after they came to know about the incident.”
