Manoranjan’s neighbour said, “Manoranjan’s family shifted to the locality in 2014-15, but he barely interacted with any of the neighbours."A team comprising Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials from Delhi Thursday visited Mysuru to investigate the Lok Sabha security breach case.
Mysuru resident Manoranjan D, 33, an engineering graduate who worked in an IT firm, was recently arrested by the Delhi Police for entering the Lok Sabha chamber and opening a gas canister.
A Mysuru police official who assisted the IB team said they checked electronic gadgets used by Manoranjan. Later, IB officials also visited the city police commissioner and gathered more information about the accused. “There are no criminal records against Manoranjan and he was never under police radar,” said the police officer.
He said they found some books on revolutionaries and wars at Manoranjan’s residence. “We got books on Swami Vivekananda and Bhagat Singh as well. It has also been discovered that he was associated with the Bhagat Singh fan club on social media,” the officer added.
He further said Manoranjan and Sagar Sharma obtained Parliament visitor passes from Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha. Meanwhile, the Congress staged a protest in Mysuru demanding the ouster of Simha from Parliament.
The police officer said Simha’s residence was not far from Manoranjan’s residence and they shared a good rapport. “Manoranjan followed up with Pratap Simha to get the visitor pass. We have to check if he had obtained visitor passes previously,” the officer added.
Manoranjan’s neighbour K S Shilpa said, “Manoranjan’s family shifted to the locality in 2014-15, but he barely interacted with any of the neighbours. He was very reserved and for a long time, we did not know that Manoranjan was the son of Devaraj. While his parents interacted with us… Devaraj used to say that his son was a BE graduate and worked abroad. The last time I saw him was last Friday when he was parking a two-wheeler outside the house,” she added.
