A police officer said that it was a well-planned attack by someone known to the victims, adding that the assailants knew the 13 friends would gather in the club to play cards and would be carrying money.
A fun evening turned into a terrifying ordeal for 13 friends when a masked gang allegedly stormed into their room at a southern Bengaluru club, stripped them, and looted valuables worth lakhs of rupees.
The attack took place on March 31 at BVK Club in Banashankari 2nd Stage, according to the police, who added that the assailants fled with Rs 10 lakh, 700 g of gold jewellery, and the victims’ mobile phones.
Ramesh T, a 58-year-old house broker and the complainant in the case, stated that he and his friends had gathered at the club to celebrate Ugadi. They booked Room 201 on the second floor, where they drank, played cards, and socialised.
Around 6 pm, they heard a knock. When they opened the door, masked men wielding machetes barged in. One attacker struck a victim with the handle of his weapon while the others threatened the group, ordering them to stay silent.
The assailants, aged between 20 and 35, ransacked the room, taking cash, gold, and phones. Before escaping, they allegedly forced the victims to strip, locked them inside and took their clothes.
The Banashankari police have registered a case and are investigating.
Additionally, a case has been registered against the club for illegal gambling activities.
