Lok Sabha elections: Karnataka to vote in 2 phases, on April 26 and May 7
While 14 seats in south Karnataka will go to polls on April 26, 14 seats in north Karnataka will go to polls on May 7.

The elections for the 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka will be held in the second and third phases of polling scheduled on April 26 and May 7, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Saturday.
The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases, and in Karnataka, the elections will be held in two phases, the ECI said. The results for the polls will be announced on June 4.
In Karnataka, polls for 14 seats in south Karnataka will be held on April 26 in the second phase of elections along with 75 seats in 12 other states and Union Territories. In the third phase, 14 seats in north Karnataka will vote on May 7, along with 80 seats in 11 other states.

In the 2019 polls, the BJP won 25 of the 28 seats in Karnataka while the Congress, Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS) and an Independent won one seat each.
In 2014, the BJP won 17 of the 28 seats, the Congress nine and the JDS two.
For the 2024 polls, the BJP has given three seats to ally JDS. The BJP is looking at repeating its 2019 performance while the Congress, which is in power in Karnataka, is hoping to win at least half a dozen seats and improve its numbers.
