The DRI unit intercepted the woman who landed in Bengaluru on an Indigo flight from Doha on July 12 based on specific information it had received. Upon inspection, officials discovered three kilograms of off-white powdered substance concealed in the false bottom of a passenger’s check-in luggage. She was put under arrest.
In a separate incident, DRI officials stopped two Indian women arriving from Bangkok at the Bengaluru airport on July 5. They were suspected of carrying illegal items. Upon inspecting their bags, officials found silver packets containing a greenish lumpy substance. The substance was identified as cannabis. The packets, weighing 3.2 kg and valued at Rs 3 crore, were confiscated. The passengers were arrested and placed in judicial custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
