Grocery app delivery agent booked for assaulting customer in Bengaluru

According to the FIR, the incident occurred on May 21 afternoon, when Shashank’s wife’s sister placed a grocery order through the app. Vishnuvardhan was assigned to deliver the items. When he arrived, the sister-in-law stepped out to collect the order, as per the complaint.

Shashank alleged that the delivery agent began shouting at her over the address issue. “He yelled at my sister-in-law, and when I intervened, he abused and punched me in the face, injuring my left eye,” Shashank stated in his complaint.

Despite Shashank’s attempts to walk away, the delivery agent allegedly continued his aggressive behaviour. Following the incident, Shashank visited an eye hospital for treatment before approaching the police.

Shashank, in the video, said, “I had to undergo a CT scan and several tests at the hospital. After the evaluation, the doctor informed me that there was a fracture of the bone underneath my eye. If it doesn’t heal within a week, I will have to undergo surgery.”

Vishnuvardhan has been booked under sections 115(2) (causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
