(File) In a rare action against violation of Metro rules, the Bengaluru police have fined a passenger for eating inside the train after a video of the same went viral.
The violator Sunil Kumar, who works at a prominent jewellery store in Jayanagar, was reportedly seen enjoying gobi manchurian on the Metro in a video recorded by his friends. As the video circulated, the police filed a non-cognisable report against Kumar and his friends. The group boards the Metro at Sampige Road Station in Malleswaram daily to reach their workplace.
The clip, shared by Kumar himself on social media, shows him chuckling as he continues to snack on the train. Kumar’s friends are also heard calling him an “uneducated fool” for violating the norms.
The police used CCTV footage to track and identify Kumar on Tuesday. Officers met him as soon as he deboarded at Jayanagar Metro station at 9.30 am. Kumar was then taken to the Jayanagar police station and was fined Rs 500.
