Bengaluru court rejects bail plea of Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa in Renukaswamy murder case
Darshan Thoogudeepa was arrested on June 11 with Pavithra Gowda and 15 others in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy.

A local court in Bengaluru on Monday rejected bail pleas of Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, his friend Pavithra Gowda, and three others in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy, a fan of Thoogudeepa.
In its order, the 57th City Civil and Sessions Court denied bail to Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, Lakshman, Nagaraj, and Ravishankar. However, the court granted bail to Deepak after his counsel argued he was not part of the conspiracy.
Appearing for Darshan, Senior Advocate C V Nagesh argued that there was a delay in recording the witness statement and expressed his doubts over the recoveries. However, Special Public Prosecutor Prasanna Kumar P refuted the claims of Nagesh.
Kumar also said that the Call Details Record (CDR) and DNA report have established the presence of Darshan at the crime scene. He particularly stressed that Renukaswamy was brutally murdered, and the postmortem report spoke about the brutality.
Darshan Thoogudeepa was arrested on June 11 with Pavithra Gowda and 15 others in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga. The accused have been in judicial custody since then.
According to the police investigations, Renukaswamy was allegedly murdered over sending lewd comments to Pavithra Gowda on Instagram. His body was discovered near a stormwater drain close to an apartment complex in Sumanahalli, Bengaluru, on June 9.
