Bengaluru Metro services to be extended beyond midnight on IPL match days

On cricket match days, the last trains from terminal stations at Baiyappanahalli, Kengeri, Nagasandra, and Silk Institute will leave at 1 am and there will be trains from the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic at 1.30 am in all four directions

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Rail Corporation Limited has announced the extension of its Metro train timings in Bengaluru beyond midnight on days when cricket matches are held in the city in April and May as part of the Indian Premier League 2023 tournament.

“In view of the IPL 2023 night matches to be held at Bangalore on April 2, 10, 17, 26, and May 21, 2023, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) will be extending the train services on Baiyapanahalli-Kengeri and Nagasandra-Silk Institute lines till the early hours of the following day of the cricket matches,” the BMRCL said in an official statement.

On the days of the cricket matches the last trains from terminal stations at Baiyappanahalli, Kengeri, Nagasandra, and Silk Institute will leave at 1 am and there will be trains from the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic at 1.30 am in all four directions, the BMRCL said.

“Onward journey from any station to Cubbon Park and MG Road Metro stations shall be by means of tokens, QR tickets, and smart cards at normal fares. For swift crowd clearance BMRCL will be issuing return journey paper tickets which will be available for sale at all Metro stations well in advance on the cricket match days from 3 pm,” BMRCL said.

The paper tickets are priced at Rs 50 and will be valid for a single journey from the Cubbon Park and MG Road stations (located in the vicinity of the Chinnaswamy Stadium) to any stations on the Purple and Green Lines respectively on the match days.

The Bengaluru Metro’s Purple Line stretch between Whitefield and K R Puram (Kadugodi) will not have extended Metro services on the IPL match days. The Purple Line to Whitefield has a key missing link on a 2.1-km stretch between Baiyappanahalli and K R Puram.
