Home Secretary-cum-Health Secretary Mandip Singh Brar Saturday conducted a visit to Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, Chandigarh, to take stock of the functioning of various departments and to ensure that citizens are receiving prompt and quality healthcare services.
Brar took a detailed tour of the hospital, beginning from the Emergency and Trauma sections and extending to the Outpatient Department (OPD) and the Advanced Paediatric Centre. He interacted with doctors, medical staff, and patients to gain firsthand insight into the hospital’s day-to-day operations.
During the visit, Brar listened to the concerns raised by several patients and their attendants regarding waiting times and service delivery. He assured them that their grievances would be addressed with priority. Taking note of the heavy patient rush at the Emergency Department, Brar directed hospital authorities to increase the number of registration counters to ensure faster processing and smoother patient management.
The Health Secretary also shared several important suggestions for enhancing healthcare delivery, including improved interdepartmental coordination, better emergency response systems, and regular maintenance of medical infrastructure. He emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness and ensuring compassionate behaviour by hospital staff while dealing with patients. Director of Health Services, Dr Suman Singh, along with senior officials from the Health Department, accompanied Brar during the visit.
