The Bengaluru police said Monday they have arrested two more people in connection with their investigation into the ATM cash van robbery during which Rs 7.11 crore was looted earlier this month, bringing the number of those held to nine.

The police said the arrested men have been identified as Dinesh and Jinesh. Among those who were arrested is Annappa Naik, a police constable attached to Govindapura police station, who has been suspended.

Lokesh B Jagalasar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), said that Dinesh was arrested in Bengaluru and Jinesh was arrested in Chennai.

The robbery took place near the Ashoka Pillar on November 19, where the gang members posing as Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Income Tax Department officers intercepted the ATM vehicle to rob the money. The police have so far recovered Rs 6.55 crore.

DCP Jagalasar said efforts to recover the remaining amount are underway. He said he cannot comment on whether there would be more arrests, as their investigations are still ongoing.
