(File/PTI Photo) The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has issued a show-cause notice to Karnataka MLC and permanent invitee to Congress Working Committee B K Hariprasad following his veiled digs at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over the past few weeks.
Tariq Anwar, member-secretary of the Congress Disciplinary Action Committee, has issued the notice asking him to “explain his conduct” within ten days. The response from the high command against Hariprasad came after AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge received a complaint.

At a rally of Idiga, Billava, Namadhari and several other OBC communities on September 9, Hariprasad continued his attack against the CM, embarrassing the state Congress. “Someone who wears a panche (dhoti), a Hublot watch and a khaki chaddi inside cannot be a socialist,” he said, referring to the Hublot watch controversy during Siddaramaiah’s tenure as CM in 2016. Siddaramaiah was questioned over a Hublot watch he had worn with the Opposition, alleging it was worth Rs 70 lakh.
While Siddaramaiah refused to comment on Hariprasad’s comments, stating that the MLC had not named him, the chief minister’s loyalists sought action against him for his outburst.
