An FIR was registered at SG Highway-2 traffic police station, based on a complaint by the truck owner, Sadhuram Sahebram Kargawal, 38, a resident of Mehsana.
The FIR said, “On November 7, around 9 pm, our driver Mahesh Thakor loaded the goods from Palanpur, Banaskantha, in my truck. Then, at night, another driver, Rafiqmiya Usmanmiya Sindhi (38), took over the vehicle in Mehsana. Around 12:30 am, driver Sindhi called and informed me that the truck had stopped on the road at Thaltej while going towards Sarkhej, at the Thaltej Underbridge and that the goods were lying there. So I asked him to put some tree branches at the back of the truck and put a red cloth on it. He said he had also turned on the parking lights.”
“Around 3 am, driver Sindhi called me and said that his mother-in-law had died and so he was going to Deesa,” said Kargawal. This left the truck unattended, and so the owner left his home in Mehsana and reached the spot in Ahmedabad around 7 am on Saturday.
The FIR said, “When we reached, we found that a black Kia Seltos car had hit the truck on the left side. The SUV was also at the spot. Our truck had damage to the rear left bumper and body. But the car’s windshield, door glass, front bumper and dashboard and steering wheel, headlights, bonnet and side panel were damaged.”
Kargawal said local residents told him that around 5 am, the driver of the Kia Seltos car had collided with the truck. Further investigation is on, said Inspector U B Dhakhada said.
