A mega block had been announced by the Western Railway authorities between Surat and Udhna railway station in South Gujarat from August 26 at 9.30 am to August 28 5.30 pm. The block will be in place to lay the third railway track for smoothening train traffic for trains on the Udhna-Jalgaon section.

The officials said the block will not affect the movements of trains on the Surat-Mumbai main line.

The 56-hour mega block has led to cancellation of 48 trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad and other stations, while 26 trains will see partial cancellation/short termination on the same route, as per a press statement from the Western Railway.

The railway authorities have appealed to the passengers to check the trains available on the official websites or contact the railway authorities in case of confusion.

Meanwhile, the Nagpur-Ahmedabad Prerna express (Train No 22137) running on August 26 and 27 has been diverted via Nagpur-Itarsi -Sant Haridaran Nagar-Nagda-Chayapuri. The Daund-Indoor express (Train number 22943) running on August 26 has been diverted via Kalyan–Bhusaval—Itarsi–Sant Haridaran Nagar–Indore Junction.

The Dardar Porbandar Saurashtra Express (Train no. 9015) running on August 28 is rescheduled by two hours.

Sources in Western Railway said that the congestion increased between Surat and Udhna station in South Gujarat, due to heavy passengers and goods traffic for both Mumbai and Jalgaon. Due to the heavy traffic on the Surat Mumbai main line, the punctuality of Jalgaon-bound trains gets affected between Surat and Udhna.
