Vice-Chancellor calls off annual Senate meeting of MSU

Prof Goyal said the issue of Pro-Vice Chancellor

Dr S M Joshi’s appointment had not been discussed in the agenda.

At the meeting on March 31,Senate members had cited the government’s resolution on the appointment of the pro-vice chancellor and had termed Joshi’s appointment as illegal. “How do we have a meeting with someone who has passed the retirement age?” asked Senate member Narendra Ravat.

Elsewhere,Prof Goyal said the Senate meeting was dissolved because the issues being discussed were not on the agenda.

“In a dramatic move,he asked the senior most Senate member,Dr P M Shah,to chair the meeting. But,we raised an objection as it was un-constitutional,” added Ravat.
