It took less than half an hour for the M S University Vice-Chancellor,Prof Ramesh Goyal,to dissolve the annual Senate meeting, which has already been adjourned twice in the last fortnight. Prof Goyal said the issue of Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr S M Joshis appointment had not been discussed in the agenda. At the meeting on March 31,Senate members had cited the governments resolution on the appointment of the pro-vice chancellor and had termed Joshis appointment as illegal. How do we have a meeting with someone who has passed the retirement age? asked Senate member Narendra Ravat. Elsewhere,Prof Goyal said the Senate meeting was dissolved because the issues being discussed were not on the agenda. In a dramatic move,he asked the senior most Senate member,Dr P M Shah,to chair the meeting. But,we raised an objection as it was un-constitutional, added Ravat.
