‘VHP hurt by Modi’s ‘toilet over temple’ remark’

Togadia told this at a meeting of textile businessmen here.

Adding fuel to the ongoing controversy regarding Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘toilet over temple’ remark,Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Dr Pravin Togadia on Monday said that the VHP was hurt by Modi’s statement comparing toilets with temples. Togadia told this at a meeting of textile businessmen here.

“Mera maan na hai ki unki jagah pehle shauchalay baad mein sachivalay (I believe his place should be first in the toilet then in the secretariat),” Togadia said, adding that the state government should have spent Rs 200-500 crore on building toilets in Gujarat instead of spending the amount on developing the secretariat.

The VHP international general secretary said,“Yeh tulna uchit nahi hai, shauchalay ki tulna karte samay devalay lane ki zarurat nahi thi…VHP dukhi hai. (This comparison is not appropriate, temple should not be brought into discussion while giving statement on toilets… the VHP is hurt)”.

Togadia was addressing a meeting organised by the Federation of Surat Textile Traders Association in Silk City Market on Ring Road here on Monday. At the end of the meeting he displayed cosmetic products made from cow dung and cow urine by the VHP,and promoted them.
