Vadodara hit-and-run: Man arrested hours after his SUV hits two motorcycles, kills one rider on the spot
The incident had occurred on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday when Deepak Makwana was driving his SUV on the Sama-Savli Road, when he allegedly crashed into the two motorcycles, officials said.

The Vadodara city police on Saturday arrested a 34-year-old man for an alleged hit-and-run involving his SUV and two motorcycles that had resulted in the death of one of the two-wheeler riders on the spot on Friday.
The incident had occurred on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday when Deepak Makwana was driving his SUV on the Sama-Savli Road, when he allegedly crashed into the two motorcycles, officials said. While Mukesh Damor died on the spot, another rider, Mukesh Parmar, sustained head injuries and is undergoing treatment.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 4, Panna Momaya said that the accused had escaped from the accident spot, abandoning his vehicle and was nabbed by the police on Friday night from near Dena chowkdi.
Momaya said, “Makwana was driving the vehicle owned by his friend, who runs a transport business. We have learnt that Makwana is a loan recovery agent and had visited the Ratri Bazar (night market). The accident occurred when he was returning home from his outing. The accused has previous cases of crime against him registered in Vadodara city.”
According to the police, Makwana has a case of alleged murder against him at City police station as well as a case of rioting and assault at Fatehgunj police station along with a prohibition case under which he had been previously arrested. Momaya said, “The FSL team has conducted the examination of the spot and gathered evidence. The Sama police station will investigate the case further. We are also initiating the process to cancel the driving licence of the accused.”
Sama police station has booked Makwana under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 281 (Rash driving or riding on a public way), 125(A) (Act endangering life or personal safety of others causing hurt), 125 (B) (Act endangering life or personal safety of others causing grievous hurt), 106(2) (Causing death by negligence) as well as relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
