Discussions on the use of artificial intelligence or AI, international capital market, and financial Intelligence are among the many highlights of the national event.
ICAI president Ranjeet Agrawal and former president Aniket Talati were among those who registered their presence.
In the panel discussion, Suresh Kabra, a Surat-based chartered accountant, suggested specialised courses in different sectors after the full term of CA. Agrawal welcomed the suggestion and assured that it would be discussed in the meeting. “In this two-day conference, we have come up with ICAIGPT and will share the information about it. Through this application, students (9 lakh students) can go through old papers of ICAI. We are also uploading study material. This will benefit the budding students.”
He further added, “Earlier the CA exams were conducted twice in a year — in May and November. But starting this year, we will conduct exams three times in a year — in the months of January, May and November. This year a record of 1.38 lakh students enrolled in the CA courses — the highest in history.”
“The chartered accountants will now have to do “sustainability reporting” along with “financial reporting”. Along with the financial report of a particular company, the CA should also look into the company’s environmental impact and health hazards and they will also have to certify it,” he added. There are four lakh practicing chartered accountants in India and over nine lakh students pursuing CA, he underlined. “With a strength of 13 lakh CAs, we have become the world’s biggest accounting body.
Without reservation, every third chartered accountant is a woman. Among 9 lakh students 44% are female,” he said.
