Tax official arrested for ‘taking bribe’

The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) officials Friday arrested an assistant commissioner working in commercial tax office here for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 18,000 from one Govind Kadam,owner of a water purifier company.

Acting on a complaint filed by Kadam,the ACB officials laid a trap and arrested N D Raval and an independent tax consultant,Arvind Patel,when they were receiving a bribe of Rs 18,000.

The complainant said Raval had asked him to pay Rs 20,000 to evade paying tax on his water purifier-making business.
