Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan: Surat bags award, features among top three cities across the country

The clean air survey 2025 was conducted in 130 cities of the country.

Different criterias are used to rank the cities under the Swachh Vayu Survekshan programme, said the sources in Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC).

A few criterias include efforts to reduce air pollution through solid waste management, machinery sweeping, sprinkling and dust suppression measures for road dust control, effective management of construction & demolition waste management, reduction in vehicular & industrial emission, efforts to increase renewable energy / green energy adoption, reduction in levels of dust particles like PM10 and other pollutants, said the SMC sources.

Reacting to the win, Surat Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agarwal said, “These achievements establish Surat city as an ideal model at the national level, which shows that the city has achieved a prominent position in the field of cleanliness, air quality improvement and sustainable development.”
