Laskana Police Inspector K A Chavda said: “Nursing a grudge over the issue, Mansuri allegedly killed Mohato on September 11 and hacked his body”.Five days after a man’s severed head was found at a waste dump site and the rest of the body later recovered from a locked room in a nearby residential society in Surat’s Laskana area, the police on Tuesday arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the case.
The police identified the accused as Munna alias Ishaq Mansuri and the victim as Dinesh Mohato (30), both residents of Laskana. According to the police, the accused and the deceased — both natives of Bihar’s Gopalganj district — had an altercation leading to the murder.
Mansuri and Mohato were coworkers in a powerloom factory in Laskana, said the police. A few days ago, both were involved in a heated argument over an unidentified issue during which Mohato allegedly abused and issued death threats to Mansuri in front of other factory workers.
Laskana Police Inspector K A Chavda said: “Nursing a grudge over the issue, Mansuri allegedly killed Mohato on September 11 and hacked his body”.
After identifying the victim, the investigators questioned the factory owner and other workers during which they learnt that Mansuri had quarreled with Mohato days earlier and had “left the job on September 11”.
On Monday evening, police arrested Mansuri from Surat district. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to the murder. Chavda said, “We are trying to find out more details about the reason behind the quarrel between them. The deceased had used abusive words towards the accused’s family. A probe into the matter is underway.”
