State appoints special public prosecutor in Gulberg case

Under the recommendations of the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team,the Legal Department of Gujarat government has appointed a new Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) and his assistant in the 2002 Gulberg Society massacre case. While R C Kodekar has been appointed as SPP,N K Dahiya will assist him. Kodekar is an Additional Public Prosecutor at the High Court and Dahiya is Assistant Public Prosecutor in Ahmedabad City Civil and Sessions Court.

The post had been lying vacant ever since the previous incumbent and his assistant had resigned after making serious allegations against SIT and the trial judge. With the fresh appointments,proceedings in the case are expected to resume on Wednesday.
