Stabbing case: Ahmedabad school asked to begin online classes; officials to be deployed on campus to help students seeking transfer
With regard to the show-cause notice issued to the school asking why its No- Objection Certificate should not be cancelled, the DEO said that the time period to respond to it will cease on Tuesday

The Ahmedabad (city) District Education Office has asked the Ahmedabad school, which has been closed after a student was killed allegedly after being stabbed by a classmate on August 19, to resume classes through online mode immediately.
The office is also making arrangements for students who are seeking transfer from the school.
“We have given directives to start online education for classes VI till XII immediately. Also, in the coming days, online education for other classes will commence,” Ahmedabad (city) District Education Officer (DEO) Rohit Chaudhary said.
Further, considering the inquiries from parents regarding admission to other schools, a team of four officials will be deputed at the school on Tuesday to assist parents seeking school leaving certificates. Other schools have been asked to provide provisional admission in case a leaving certificate is not immediately submitted.
The Indian Express reported on August 22 how the DEO has started talks with other nearby private schools to accommodate students of the school in question. Also, a Chintan baithak has been organised for principals and management trustees on Tuesday to deliberate on discipline in schools and things to be taken care of by the school management, principals and parents, especially keeping in mind the changing times.
“The school’s administration department has been asked to provide full cooperation to parents. If Leaving Certificate is requested by the parent, it will have to be provided and the fee paid as per the rules to be refunded by the school. In order to avoid financial burden on the parents, other schools have been advised to give admission only after collecting the fee as per the rules of the second semester on humanitarian grounds,” the DEO said in a statement.
Further, keeping in view the current situation, a helpline with only messaging facility has been started by the DEO office to address the queries of parents regarding admission to other schools.
With regard to the show-cause notice issued to the school asking why its No- Objection Certificate should not be cancelled, the DEO said that the time period to respond to it will cease on Tuesday. Following this, the next course of action will be decided.
