In another bomb threat to the aviation industry in India, a SpiceJet flight was threatened on Friday, leading to officials rushing to check its veracity at the Kandla Airport in Gujarat’s Kutch district.

The threat, received by SpiceJet for a flight between Mumbai and Kandla in Kutch, Gujarat, ultimately turned out to be a hoax, said officials from the Kutch (East) Police.

Anjar Division DySP Mukesh Chaudhary said, “When SpiceJet received the bomb threat, they informed the airport authority, who then informed police and agencies. A detailed search of the aircraft that landed in Kandla as well as of the passengers and their luggage was carried out by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS). No explosive materials were found aboard the aircraft.”

The flight departed on time for Mumbai at 3.21 pm, added Chaudhary.

The investigation of this case will be carried out at whichever police station SpiceJet files its complaint at in this matter.

Notably, a Star Airlines flight between Bengaluru and Jamnagar also received a bomb threat on October 19. That incident had also turned out to be a hoax.
