Several state government harmed interest of farmers: NAPM
Madhuresh, an NAPM member, said that governments in Gujarat, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana that introduced amendments exempted large number of projects from important provisions related to consent from farmers.

Speaking on the land acquisition issue, the National Alliance for Peoples’ Movements (NAPM) Saturday said that several state governments have diluted the central land acquisition law passed by the previous UPA government, thereby harming the interest of farmers and landowners.
Speaking at the Kisan Swaraj Sammelan held here to discuss the problems of farmers across the country, Madhuresh, an NAPM member, said that the BJP government made a bid to weaken the UPA government’s land acquisition law — Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act (RFCTLARR) Act 2013 — by bringing amendments into it through ordinance.
It was then that the BJP government, he said, asked the state governments to make certain amendments in the RFCTLARR Act. He said that governments in Gujarat, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Telangana that introduced amendments exempted large number of projects from important provisions related to consent from farmers.
