School opens for kids affected by Sabarmati riverfront project

The Ahmedabad municipal school board on Monday started Ganeshnagar-Piplaj Gujarat Shala No 1 and 2 for the children of resettled families of the Sabarmati Riverfront Project.

The Ahmedabad municipal school board on Monday started Ganeshnagar-Piplaj Gujarat Shala No 1 and 2 for the children of resettled families of the Sabarmati Riverfront Project. The school will initially operate from tents and later on rooms will be constructed for the 313 children admitted in the day. There will be students in Class I to VII in the school where mid-day meal was also served today,an AMC release said.

Ahmedabad: The city police today arrested two men,who owned Fala Investment Company,for allegedly duping people of Rs 1.25 crore in the name of get-rich-quick schemes. Police said Shahnawaz and Ahmed Hussain were on the run for the last one month. The duo reportedly told police that they had invested the money collected here in one Balaji Investments in Tamil Nadu to earn high returns.

Youth held with fake currency notes in Godhra

Ahmedabad: A 24-year-old youth,native of Malda district of West Bengal,was today arrested with 300 counterfeit currency notes of Rs 500 denomination from Godhra,police said. Special operations group,which arrested Mohammad Rafiqul-Haq,officials said they suspect the involvement of an international counterfeit racket having links with Bangladesh.
