A replica of 'Ajay baan' — the arrow Lord Ram allegedly used to kill Ravana — is set to be offered at the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 10. The replica has been built by the Jai Bhole Group in Ahmedabad, which on Wednesday organised a special prayer ceremony at the Ambaji temple in Banaskantha district. A large number of devotees took part in the prayer ceremony. Dipeshbhai Patel, founder of the Jai Bhole Group, said: “In the Tretayug, Goddess Amba destroyed demonic powers by giving Ajay baan to Lord Ram. Now in Kalyug, when the magnificent temple of Lord Ram is being built in Ayodhya, we were inspired to create an Ajay baan. with panchadhatu (five metals).” The arrow, 5-ft long and weighing 11.5 kg, will be offered at the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 10, he added. It took 15 craftsmen five days to build the arrow at Patel's factory in Vatva. Around Rs 5 lakh was spent on it. Patel went on to invite devotees for a darshan of the arrow from January 1 to 7 at Vatva in Ahmedabad. A delegation from the Jai Bhole Group will leave for Ayodhya with the arrow on January 8. According to mythology, in Tretayug, when Ram and his brother Lakshman met Rishi Shringi, he suggested to Ram to worship Goddess Amba to ensure victory in the battle against Ravana. After Ram worshiped Amba, she gave him an arrow as a blessing. This arrow was allegedly used by Ram to kill Ravana.
