The new batch of IIT Gandhinagar students who have an interesting line-up of activities including music, movies, sports, heritage walks to RTI workshops will now get their hands dirty for the city. As part of their five-week foundation programme that started this week, the BTech students who have started their classes will clean road sides for four days around Chandkheda area, where their institute is located, starting Tuesday.

While Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will provide trucks and cleaning equipments, these fuccha (the slang for first-year students) engineers will get down and dirty to ensure the roads are cleaner in their area.

College authorities, however, say it is a part of inculcating social responsibilities among these young

engineers.
