Police notification on tuition timings upsets students,parents and teachers

In the wake of the recent gangrape incident on a class XII Science student that had taken place early in the morning when the victim was going to her tuition class,Surat Police Commissioner issued a notification to all the tuition classes in the city to start their tuition after 7 in the morning. Several students said this notification will badly affect their study schedule.

Hetal Shah,a student of Jeewan Bharti School,said her schedule will be hit. “Earlier,we left our house at 5.15 am for our Maths tuition class. We need to reach school at 7 am. Our Chemistry tuition starts at 3.30 pm and Physics at 5.15 pm. Moreover,we also attend our AIEEE coaching after the dinner at 9 pm,” she said.

The new police notification will mean cancellation of the morning tuition and that will affect the schedule of the entire day and put stress on the students. “We may have to take Maths tuition in the afternoon at a time which is for our rest,” she said.

Even parents and teachers are also upset with the notification issued by the Police Commissioner.

“Earlier,the students managed to get some time for rest but now it will change,” said Vikram,a teacher who teaches at a coaching class in the city.

He said a request for relaxation will be made to the Commissioner as most students attending the tuition classes in the morning time are boys. “At least,boys can be allowed to attend classes in the morning,” he said.

As students will not be able to get enough time for study,even parents are ready to send their children in the early morning classes,he said.

Sources said the owners of the tuition classes will hold a meeting with the parents to make a representation to the Police Commissioner in near future.
