Police escort pilgrims,monks in Vadodara
Following rumours about attacks on Jain holy men/women,taluka policemen escorted about 150 Jain pilgrims and 40 monks to their camp on the outskirts of Vadodara on Tuesday.
Following rumours about attacks on Jain holy men/women,taluka policemen escorted about 150 Jain pilgrims and 40 monks to their camp on the outskirts of Vadodara on Tuesday. According to Inspector D J Soratia,the secretary of Lalbaugh Jain Sangh in Makarpura had requested for police escort to pilgrims who would walk through Anand and Bhavnagar districts over the next 17 days to reach Palitana. Manhar Shah,the president of the same group said they asked for escort following rumours about the attacks. These attacks have been going on in Rajasthan for the last 40 years. I am shocked to hear that it is happening in Gujarat as well, said Giriraj Muni,who has been accompanying the group. Sadhvi Maitreyee,the head sadhvi accompanying the group added that they would not like to point fingers at anyone.
