Parts of main roads in Rajkot to be closed for night marathon

Parts of Race Course Ring Road, Raiya Road and 150-feet Ring Road will remain closed from 9 pm on Sunday to 3 am on Monday due to Rajkot Night Half Marathon, 2023 in the city, Rajkot city police said Friday.

Rajkot commissioner of police (CP) Raju Bhargav issued a notification prohibiting the entry of vehicles from Old NCC Chowk to Amrapali railway underbridge on Raiya Road, from the underbridge to the Raiya Circle on 150-feet Ring Road via Hanuman Madhi Chowk.

Entry of vehicles is also banned on the left-hand side of the 150-feet Ring Road section beginning from Raiya Circle to Umiya Chowk, including flyovers at KKV Chowk, Nanamava Chowk, and Mavdi Chowkadi and from Nanavati Chowk to Raiya Road flyover. It will also remain prohibited on the left-hand side road from Amrapali railway underbridge to Kisanpara Chowk, Jilla Panchayat Chowk, Bahumali Bhavan Chowk, Funworld and Police headquarters Chowk.

In a release, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation said that BRTS services will also remain suspended from 8 pm Sunday to 3 am Monday and city buses whose routes cross these road sections will be diverted.

Rajkot Runners Club is organising the maiden night half marathon of 21 kilometres and a 10-km run.
