The study included 139 healthy first-time marathon runners aged 21-69 years who were advised to follow a first-time finisher training programme and ran an estimated 10-20 kilometres a week for six months ahead of completing the 2016 or 2017 London Marathon.

Shivalik Siganture, a 615-km-long cycling race, is one of the three qualifying races in India for RAAM. The qualifiers are held in 15 countries across the globe. The one in New Chandigarh will be held on April 7.
Surat, Feb 14 (ANI): Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar flagged off a night marathon in Surat, Gujarat. Thousands of people participated in different categories of marathon. Physically challenged people also participated in the one-kilometre category of the race. At least, 12 physically challenged people came from Pune to participate in the marathon. The physically challenged were happy to take part in the marathon which gave them a new hope to live life despite challenges. Around 15,000 people participated in the marathon but thousands more came to the venue to watch Akshay, the brand ambassador of Surat night marathon.The fund raised through this event will be used for installing closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the city, clean India project and improving facilities in a cancer hospital in Surat.
