Names of suitable candidates for the post of vice-chancellor (V-C) of the Sardar Patel University (SPU) at Anand and Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachch University (KSKVKU) in Bhuj have been submitted to the state government by the two search teams it appointed. According to sources in the state education department,these names will be forwarded to the governor for appointment.
The KSKVKU search committee headed by former Bhavnagar university V-C,J M Maiyani,had previously suggested three candidates that were rejected by the governor saying that university grants commission norms had not been followed.
Sources said the search committee had dropped all the three names from the previous list and now suggested the names of L M Manocha,a scientist at the SP University,KSKVKUs former V-C Shashi Ranjan Yadav and K K Shah,former V-C of Hemachandracharya North Gujarat University (HNGU).
A member of the committee said it suggested the names as per guidelines given by the governor. It is for the governor to accept or reject the suggestions,the member said.
Meanwhile,SPUs search committee,led by Professor Anamik Shah of Saurashtra University,has recommended Harish Padh,former SPU V-C,K K Shah,former HNGU V-C and Nishith Desai.
