Sheetal Kalathiya, the wife of Pahalgam terror attack victim Shailesh Kalathiya from Surat, has sought compensation from the Gujarat government, "similar to" or "more" than the amount allotted by the Maharshtra government. While Shailesh's cousins distributed sweets in Surat on Wednesday morning hours after 'Operation Sindoor' was carried out by India in response to the Pahalgam attack, Sheetal posted a video on social media, heaping praising on the Narendra Modi-led government for the move. She said, “Mujeh meri government pe pura bharosa tha. jese aaj pata chala ke Modiji ne atankwadio ko chun chun kar uske thikane par jaa kar mara hain. Yeh sun kar mere pati ki atma ko bahut shanti mili aur uske sath sath jo 25 marey hain unki atma ko bhi shanty milegi. (I had complete faith in my government. as I came to know today that Modiji has killed terrorists at their hideouts. Hearing this, my husband's soul has found immense peace, and the souls of the 25 others, who were killed along with him, will also find peace." “I want to appeal to the Gujarat government to announce compensation for the families of the deceased, like that of the Maharashtra government, or more,” she also said. The Maharashtra government had earlier announced an interim compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the six victims of Pahalgam attack who hailed from the state. Later, the state cabinet approved a compensation of Rs 50 lakh each to the families of the deceased. On the other hand, the Gujarat government announced Rs 5 lakh as compensation to each of the families of the three victims from the state. Shailesh (44) from Mota Varachha in Surat, who was living in Mumbai, worked as a bank manager at the Andheri branch of the State Bank of India. He was among the 26 people killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22. Shailesh and his family was on a vacation. Sheetal and her children Naksh and Niti are currently in Mumbai for some official procedures at the bank where Shailesh served. Shailesh's body was brought to Surat on April 23 and sent to SMC-run SMIMER hospital's morgue. The cremation was held the next day. A funeral procession was taken out from his house in Mota Varachha. The procession was attended by Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Paatil, state Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and others. Sheetal had raised her concerns about security measures at the tourist spot in Pahalgam before Paatil on April 24.
