Number of tourists visiting Gir has increased by 18% since PM Modi’s visit: Gujarat govt

Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s jungle safari in Sasangir, the number of tourists visiting the Gir has increased by 18%, said an official release from Gujarat government Thursday.

PM Modi was on a three-day tour of Gujarat between March 1 and 3, and he celebrated World Wildlife Day at Sasangir while also going out for a jungle safari.

“Following this visit of the Prime Minister, the Sasangir Jungle Safari has witnessed a rush of tourists. It is worth mentioning that before 20 days of the PM’s visit, the number of tourists in Gir was 49,681 which has, within 20 days of the visit, increased to 59,009 which shows a rise of 18.8% in the number of tourists.”

The release stated that after the PM’s visit, the interest of tourists in Barda Wildlife Sanctuary in Porbandar district has also increased. In February, Barda safari was visited by 108 tourists; the number rose to 215 tourists in March, it added.
