While a few of the M S University (MSU) Senate and Syndicate members had raised a hue and cry over the alleged involvement of city Mayor and Vadodara Member of Parliament Balkrishna Shukla in university administration, they were silent over the issue at the Syndicate meeting on Thursday. The issue was believed to be over after MSU Vice Chancellor Ramesh Goyal said he would look into the matter related to the reassessment of the examination paper of student leader Kunal Patel. Speaking to Newsline,Syndicate members claiming anonymity said Kunals case was wrongly interpreted and Professor Goyal has assured them of solving it soon. Nineteen points were discussed at the meeting,of which a few were related to the appointed of the teaching staff in Engineering and Polytechnic faculties. A Syndicate member said MSU handbook has not been revised since 1984 and there is a need to do so. There rose a voice of dissent against M M Beedkar handling many posts. They said Registrar A V Gupta is not given authority to take decisions. During the meeting,Goyal said the issues related to security, hostel management and Ph D guides will be discussed in the next Syndicate meeting.
