The leaders of the community urged Patidars to come on one platform and fight for the release of the Patidar youths lodged in different jails. Surat PAAS co-convener Dharmik Malaviya said, “We welcome that the political leaders of our community associated with the BJP have come openly in support of the entire community. We even welcome the Congress leaders (Patidar community).”

Talking to The Indian Express, diamond businessman Lalji Patel said, “The sentiments of the Patidars are associated with the youths who are now in jails. We also come from the same community and I want to say that the community is bigger than a person. We also feel that the Patidar youths have been in jail for long. They should be released first and talks on the compromising formula should be carried out later.” Dinesh Navadia, chairman of Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, Gujarat region, and Surat Diamond Association president, said, “The cause of this programme is the community’s youth. The Patidar Sangh had announced to give compensation amount of Rs 2 lakh to those Patidar youths who had lost their lives during the ongoing agitation. Our motive is to bring the PAAS leaders and the state government closer so that talks can be carried out.”
