Man who killed girlfriend out of jealousy arrested
The accused had allegedly killed the woman on January 16.
The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has booked the main accused in the murder of a woman from Uttar Pradesh, after the man, her boyfriend, confessed to his crime, stating that he killed her out of envy. The accused had allegedly killed the woman on January 16 when he came to Ahmedabad specially to execute the planned murder. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate sent the man to 14-day police custody on Wednesday.
As per the case details, the man had confessed to crime branch during his interrogation that he had planned to murder her as she had agreed to marry her “prospective groom” from her hometown Veraval. The man had earlier misled the police with the rape and murder theory and later confused the investigators with his alleged suicide note, stating that he was going to kill her before committing suicide.
However, when he was cross- questioned on the marks on his body and two theories he floated in front of police, he was reportedly trapped.
According to the crime branch, the man had confessed that he had planned her murder after he noticed that she was “avoiding him”. He told investigators that he had bought the murder weapon, the knife, while on his way to Ahmedabad from Mumbai. He had told the crime branch that he had hidden the murder weapon near the crime spot which he would disclose after he was discharged.
On Tuesday, he was relieved from the civil hospital and officially arrested for murder. He was under the medico-legal arrest till now. The police sought remand to find out several evidence in the case. Police said that the accused will have to be taken to Mumbai to ascertain from where he brought the knife used in the crime. Besides, police also sought remand on the ground that they wanted to investigate various aspects of the relationship between the accused and the victim.
