A man and his three children were killed and six others sustained injuries when the pick-up van they were travelling in overturned and fell into a nullah near Kotambi village on the Vadodara-Halol road on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 2 pm when the van bearing a registration number of Dahod district fell into a nullah near Kotambi cricket stadium. In all, 10 people were travelling in the van when it overturned, instantly killing Madhu Damor (35), and his children Pankaj (9), Mahita (7) and Pravin (5) – residents of Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh. While two persons are undergoing treatment for critical injuries at SSG Hospital, four others have suffered minor injuries, the police said. Fire Officer Jashu Waghela said, "It appears that the van lost balance and swevered into the nullah after a tyre burst. While the bodies were in the water, the injured were clutching on to the vehicle when we found them.” According to officers of Jarod police station in Vadodara rural, the forensic science laboratory (FSL) will determine the cause of the accident. Inspector K J Zala said, "We have begun an investigation. We will register a case against the driver after the FSL determines the cause of the accident." Shankar Wakhar, a passenger of the van, said the occupants were travelling from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh via Dahod to Vadodara in search of jobs as labourers
