Man gets 20 years in jail for sexually assaulting neighbour’s 6-yr-old son

A special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court in Jamnagar on Friday awarded 20 years of imprisonment to a 26-year-old man after finding him guilty of sexually assaulting the six-year-old son of his neighbour in 2022.

The court of A A Vyas convicted the accused, who is a casual labourer, under POCSO Act as well as Section 377 (unnatural sex) of the Indian Penal Code. Besides sentencing the man to 20 years in jail, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict and awarded Rs 4 lakh as compensation to the minor.

The accused had lured the boy to a secluded place and sodomised him, Jamnagar district government pleader Jaman Bhanderi said, adding that the mother of the victim filed a complaint with police after the boy narrated his ordeal to her.
